We will commemorate the centenary of the 1921 competitive hillclimb from 10 am on Saturday 14th August.:
A limited edition A5 commemorative A5 brochure will be on sale at the Fleece public house in Holme Village from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday 14th The pub will be offering breakfast, and full pub menu throughout the day.
Once you buy your leaflet you will see it has a numbered certificate which will be filled in by an HMHC official. Then you get to climb the course (which is an open public road) in your own time.. At the summit will be more event officials who will sign the certificate to prove you have climbed the 'Moss on its 100th birthday as a Hill Climb and contributed towards helping the event run in 2022.
Saturday 7th August 1920 saw the first Holme Moss Hill Climb, organised jointly by the Huddersfield, Halifax and Bradford Automobile clubs. The firstevent was won by Capt Malcolm Campbell driving his Blue Bird Talbot. Over the four years that followed, famous drivers of the day such as Archie Frazer Nash, Raymond Mays, Parry-Thomas and local favourite Eddie Hall, competed for FTD on the fearsome hill.
